As Adrian and I were exploring the nooks and crannies of the The Hope Outdoor Gallery I overheard a woman say, “This is why I love Austin!”. I totally agree with her! This outdoor collection of amazing art is quintisential Austin; edgy, quirky, creative and fun.

Hope is a three-story art project located at 11th & Baylor St. The installation is organized by the HOPE (Helping Other People Everywhere) Campaign with support from the property owners, Dick Clark Architecture and Castle Hill Partners. Given this is private property; artists must have permission to participate.

Muralists, graffiti artists and community groups are given the opportunity to inspire and educate through their large scale art pieces.

The Hope Outdoor Gallery is one of the largest outdoor galleries in Texas. When you visit be prepared to climb a little (and wear good shoes!) if you want to see the upper two levels.

We watched  a local artist putting the finishing touches on his work.

We were surprised by how many people were visiting the gallery while we were there…a testament to Austin’s appreciation for creative expression.
